Would just using a moisturizer on your pores make them smaller?

I have pores on my nose. I exfoliate 3 times a day. But anyway, would using a moisturizer on my nose area make them smaller? Ive never tried it, but I just want to know what the outcome could be. I dont want to mess up my skin.|||You didn%26#039;t mention how old you are, but moisturizer will not shrink pores. Most of the causes are acne scarring or genetics. See a dermatologist if you can%26#039;t see beyond the pores.|||What can you do to Reduce Pore Size?

Large pores are commonly believed to be caused by two things: genetics and age. As we age, we loose elasticity in the skin that keeps pores tighter, and some people are simply born with a skin-type that has tendency towards large pores. How you treat your skin can also contribute to larger pore size. If you don鈥檛 cleanse your skin correctly, they can become clogged and enlarged. And if you have dry skin, this can make large pores look worse than they actually are. Regardless of why you have them, there are some things you can do to reduce their appearance.

Vitamins

Many believe using a low-strength topical retinol or vitamin C product can help. These are antioxidants that work to increase the production of collagen and elastin production, tightening your skin for smoother appearance.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation loosens dead skin cells that clog pores so that they function normally. Two ways:

路 Exfoliate yourself. Choose a gentle exfoliant with small buffing granules (check with a sales person). Look for products with salicylic acid鈥攚hile alpha hydroxy acid is water soluble only, beta hydroxy acid (salicylic acid) is oil soluble, so it`s able to really seep into the sebum-packed pore, exfoliating the dead skin cells built up inside.

路 Experts also recommend seeing a dermatologist or a spa for microdermabrasion treatments. This is basically a fancy exfoliation treatment. It is a type of facial that gently sloughs off the dead surface layer of skin and also stimulates collagen so skin looks extra smooth. AHA or BHA skin peels are also effective in reducing pore size, but are more of a temporary fix.

Using Makeup

Concealing large pores with makeup is also an option. Look for gels and tinted creams formulated to smooth the appearance of pores. The way you applicate make-up can help also; avoid applying too much foundation to areas where pores are enlarged. Follow these steps for a generally smoother look.

路 Apply a foundation primer to even out skin tone.

路 Apply your foundation - cream or cream-to-powder formulas work better than liquid foundations, which can soak into the pores, making stand out.

路 Use a brush to apply a light dusting of loose powder.

Quick Pore Reducing Tips

路 Use gentle, water-soluble cleansers (i.e. no bar soap)

路 Make sure exfoliants are gentle; the same elements that remove dead skin cells can dry out skin if used too much, making the pore overcompensate, producing more oil.

路 Those with oily skin can use the following for treatment: milk of magnesia; clay masks; silicone based, oil-absorbing products for use under make-up.
